Cassidy Lance-Mcwherter

Professional Athlete

In 2009 I began my CrossFit Journey and 2018 was my 5th year competing at the CrossFit Games. I opened CrossFit WaterSide in Orlando, FL in 2017, and now expanding currently to our second location. For many years I coached gymnastics and my love for coaching grew even more when I discovered CrossFit. I have such a strong passion for helping others achieve results far beyond what they are capable of. This is what motivates me everyday, the fans in the crowd, the worker by day, CrossFitter by night. CrossFit does not define who I am, in many ways I want to define CrossFit by setting the example of the type of person you should strive to be. The type of athlete and coach that helps motivate others to better themselves every day. My principles for training and living my life are synonymous. If you are going to do it, whatever it is, give it all you’ve got and do it with all your heart. This year, my song for the Games was “Whatever It Takes” by Imagine Dragons. Life is made up of moments and I intend to live each one of these smiling.

Jessica Griffith

Professional Athlete

Jessica Griffith was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island where she grew up the second oldest of four siblings. In 2013, Jessica graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and has resided in Missouri since. Jessica played sports all through her childhood. She graduated high school with four varsity letters in volley ball, swim, track & field, and cheerleading. She went on to cheer in college until she started the nursing program her sophomore year. Once she started her career as a nurse, she found herself searching for a fitness outlet. She was introduced to crossfit in August of 2013, did her first competition in October, and never looked back.

Jessica balanced a full-time career working as an RN and training for five years. In the meantime, she qualified for the CrossFit Games on CrossFit 417’s team in 2015 and 2016 and then made her rookie debut as an individual in 2017. In March of 2018, Jessica decided she had a much bigger passion for fitness and helping people inside the four walls of a gym instead of a hospital. She put her nursing career down to pursue training full time and work as a remote nutrition coach for Barbell Medicine. Jessica missed qualifying for her second consecutive CrossFit Games by 4 points but was invited to participate on the Demo Team. Jessica is excited for all that 2019 has to bring. She feels blessed to be on the path she’s been lead down, has plans to continue to train full time, use her knowledge as a nurse to bring insight on health and wellness to the fitness community, and be a positive influence to those around her.

Stacie Tovar

Owner of CrossFit Omaha/ Owner of Go Far Fitness/Professional Athlete

Stacie Tovar is an 8X CrossFit Games competitor, owner of CrossFit Omaha and Go Far Fitness, and a fitness expert for the Omaha World Herald's, health and wellness section, Live Well Nebraska.

Stacie’s humble roots began out on a midwestern farm near Omaha, Nebraska. The second oldest of four, Stacie was inherently athletic and fiercely competitive.

She went off to college at the University of Nebraska in Omaha where she played volleyball and studied Exercise Science.

In 2008, a year after graduating college, Stacie found CrossFit. The first workout was a struggle. But the struggle soon became a passion.

Only after a year of starting CrossFit she qualified for the 2009 CrossFit Games. But it wasn't a fluke, she continued to qualify for the CrossFit Games in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.

October of 2013 is when her competitive fire exploded. She left her corporate job to pursue her new-found passion: becoming a full-time CrossFit Games athlete.

In 2014, she missed going to the Games by one spot. This lit a fire within her that led her to qualify for the 2015, 2016, and 2017 CrossFit Games.

Shortly after qualifying for the 2017 CrossFit Games, she was invited back to her Alma Mater to receive a Distinguished Alumni Award from the university's, College of Education. This same year Stacie decided to retire from competing in CrossFit. After her last workout at the 2017 CrossFit Games, Stacie eloquently left her shoes on the floor and stepped away from competition.

Fast forward to 2018 and Stacie Tovar has made more Games appearances than almost any other athlete. With a deeper understanding of fitness, she has shifted her focus to improving fitness and wellness in others. She is a coach, affiliate owner and business owner.

As a coach and affiliate owner at CrossFit Omaha, she strives to take her community farther through fitness and nutrition by creating an atmosphere that is welcoming to all. It is this culture of excellence that has led her and her team to be awarded with a corporate contract by nationally renowned post-hospital rehabilitation facility, QLI (Quality Living, Inc.).

As a business owner of Go Far Fitness, online CrossFit programming, she aims to provide a home for ANYONE looking to further their fitness through FUNctional programming, educational tips, and community.
